Bodø/Glimt - Kongsvinger 4-1 (3-0) Nordlandshallen Att: 3.267 1-0 Runar Berg (12) 2-0 Trond Sollied (24) 3-0 Berg (31) 4-0 Tommy Hansen (88) 4-1 Geir Frigård (89) Yellow card: Ståle Bokalrud, Kongsvinger. - Due to bad weather and heavy snowfall this match had to be played indoors in the warm Nordlandshallen. This was the first time ever that a premier division match in Norway had to be played indoors on an artificial surface. One thing that would have been unthinkable if the match had been very important I guess :-) Nonetheless B/G won the game with ease, and thus the silver medals as well. Very well done for a newcomer, I would say !! Brann - Lyn 3-7 (1-2) Brann stadion Att: 6.646 1-0 Kaj Eskelinen (7) 1-1 Anders Michelsen (11) 1-2 Ronny Johnsen (35) 1-3 Kjell Roar Kaasa (51) 1-4 Kaasa (60) 1-5 Axel Kolle (72) 1-6 Stein Amundsen (76) 1-7 Michelsen (80) 2-7 Trond Egil Soltvedt (87) 3-7 Soltvedt (pen. 90) Yellow card: Geirmund Brendesæther, Brann, Ørjan Berg Johansen, Lyn. - Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggghhhhhh. Sometimes words can't describe one feelings, and this is defineately one of these times. Lyn came THAT close to rescue at least a play-off place and a possible new contract , but lost out on a penalty in the very last minute :-( :-( Sometimes the world is cruel. Before the game Lyn were 3 points and 6 goals behind Molde (sort of reminds me of the situation in WC group 2 :-) ). The only outcome that could save Lyn, was that Molde lost at home to Tromsø AND that Lyn won big in Bergen against Brann and passing Molde on goal difference. An impossible task one would think, and so it seemed for at halftime as well, since Lyn were only one goal up and Molde-TIL was scoreless. But then the drama started. Tromsø took the lead in Molde immedialely after the restart. Lyn then knew they needed a win by 5 goals if TIL kept their lead in Molde (and as we know that was exactly what 'gutan' did). Lyn started playing their best football of the season against a VERY weak homeside. It was 3-1, 4-1, 5-1 and 14 minutes from the end 6-1. I was listening to the radio and couldn't believe my ears. A miracle was about to happen !! I was so excited I couldn't sit still. Lyn had done it !! Then Lyn scored another goal, 7-1, and looked even more secure of the play-off place. Suddenly 4 minutes from time, a new goal from Bergen. This time Brann had pulled one back, but still Lyn had the play-off place. I looked nervously at my watch, hoping for the refs both in Molde and Bergen to blow their whistles for the last time. And the ref in Bergen did blow, but unfortuneately it was for a penalty kick..... to Brann..... in the last minute of the game !!!!!!!! I was praying to the radio "Miss it, miss it". Soltvedt stepped up the commentator reported, a few seconds of silence and then the noise from the homecrowd in the backgroud. Then I knew he had scored and Lyn were relegated to the first division. I was shocked. So close and still so far away. HOW can they let in two goals in the last 4 minutes when they knew the importance of the game ?? How can it happen ?? But I guess it was all so typical of Lyn this season. Never able to maintain the pressure for 90 minutes, never able to keep a lead once they get it, always allowing the opposition easy goals at the back. Of course the season wasn't deceided yesterday. Lyn should have gotten the point they needed against B/G or Viking at home or Fyllingen away just to name a few matches. All in all the last 5 minutes sort of summarized the Lyn performance this year. In too many matches they have been inconsistent and not willing to fight. So I guess they didn't deserve to stay up (neither do Molde IMHO, but that's another issue :-) ) after all. Nevertheless they came desperately close ! At last a few words on the famous Brann-side known to beat great sides like Spurs and ..... Fyllingen lately :-) They were a disgrace for the Norwegian football. If I was a Molde-supporter I would really be upset with their performance. Where was the spirit, where was the sportmanship ? OK, the game didn't mean anything at all to Brann, but they were playing at home in front of 6000 home supporters. Don't they feel responsible for those ? Lyn maybe played very well, but you simply don't give up 7 goals at home to a team being relegated, do you !? Stig and other Brann-supporters, what can you say to your team's defence ? Hamarkameratene - Fyllingen 6-0 (3-0) Briskeby gressbane Att: 849 1-0 Ståle Solbakken (26) 2-0 Petter Belsvik (30) 3-0 Belsvik (pen. 40) 4-0 Belsvik (73) 5-0 Solbakken (75) 6-0 Cato Erstad (89) - Fyllingen smashed to another heavy defeat in their last match in the premier division (for ever I hope :-) ). Hamkam finsihed 5th, but can still be relegated to the 1st or 7th division !!! They are almost bancrupt, and the only thing that can save them is the local council buying their stadium. This will be deceided on a council-meeting on Wednesday. If they go bancrupt they'll have to start all over again at the bottom of the league system. Even if they don't they might be denied the lisence for the premier division next year due to the financial difficulties, and will thus be relegated to the first (just like Bordeaux in France or a couple of German clubs in 2nd Bundesliga to name a few other examples). Molde - Tromsø 0-1 (0-0) Molde stadion Att: 2 740 0-1 Sigurd Rushfeldt (46) Yellow card: Øystein Neerland, Molde, Trond Johansen, Svein-Are Andreassen, Svein Morten Johansen, Tromsø - This all-omportant match was settled just after halftime with a goal by Rushfeldt. Molde had dominated the first half, but were unable to score. After the TIL-goal they pressed even more forward, but to no great effect. Actually TIL went much closer on a couple of counter-attacks.(Why didn't you score another one Rushfeldt when you had an open goal in front of you ? That would have saved Lyn as well !!!.... ) Now Molde face Strømsgodset and Bryne in the play-off next week. Start - Lillestrøm 1-5 (1-3) Kristiansand stadion Att: 3 477 1-0 Morten Pettersen (7) 1-1 Thomas Berntsen (30) 1-2 Mons Ivar Mjelde (34) 1-3 Mjelde (pen. 44) 1-4 Tom Gulbrandsen (61) 1-5 Mjelde (90) Yellow card: Helge Bjønsaas, Start. - Mjelde got another 3 goals, and finished as topscorer this year. Lillestrøm got the bronze medals and a possible UEFA-cup place if Bodø/Glimt win the cupfinal next Sunday. Viking - Rosenborg 2-0 (2-0) Stavanger stadion Att: 8.710 1-0 Geir Hasund (14) 2-0 Hasund (34) Yellow card: Egil Østenstad, Viking, Ståle Stensaas, Rosenborg. - Champions Rosenborg went down for the first time in 18 league matches against the homeside which finished 4th. Had Viking played half as good away as they do at home, they would have been champions instead.
