The home team got an early lead but two quick goals for the visitors turned the match around. In the second half KIL pressed hard for the equalizer, but were caught on the break on a lot of occations. The winning margin could easily have been even more emphatic for the team from Northern Norway as KIL gave it all up in the last 10 minutes or so. Tromsø - Vålerenga 0-0 Att: 3631 Yellow card: Joachim Walltin, Kjetil Løvvik, Vålerenga. - A stern defensive play by VIF gave them a good result before the second leg next Wednesday. TIL opened very brightly, but faded shortly afterwards, and for the rest of the game were unable to penetreate the visitors defensive 4-5-1 formation. In fact, VIF could have snatch victory themselves, as keeper Grenersen fumbled the ball on one occation and the home team had to save on the line. A very interesting second leg is expected.
