Yellow card: Morten Fevang, Odd Grenland, Bjørn Johansen, Jesper Jansson, Helsingborg. - Odd Grenland made their debut in the European Cups with a good performance if only the Norwegians had capitalized on their chances. In the end, a draw was a good result for HIF, which makes them favourites to go through. Kilmarnock (Scotland) - Viking 1-1 (0-1) Rugby Park Att: 6322 0-1 Tom Sanne (45) 1-1 Craig Dargo (73) Referee: Ivan Dobrinov, Bulgaria. Yellow card: Hannu Tihinen, Viking. - Ann excellent away perfromance by Viking. They defended well, and looked sharp on the counter-attack. Sanne scored the all important away goal, and despite a Scottish equalizer in the second half, the visitors have a good chance of qualifying for the second round. UEFA Cup, first round, second leg (27/9) ================================= Viking - Kilmarnock 2-0 (2-0), agg. 3-1 Stavanger stadion Att: 4335 1-0 Tom Sanne (1) 2-0 Erik Nevland (18) Referee: Eric Romain, Belgium. Yellow card: Alistar Mitchell, Kilmarnock. - Two early goals made sure qualification was never in doubt for Viking. Once more Sanne hit the back of the net, as did top scorer Nevland. Thw win means that Viking face German side Hertha Berlin in the second round. Helsingborg - Odd Grenland 1-1 (1-1), agg 3-3 (Helsingborg on away goals) Olympia Att: 4034 1-0 Alvaro Santos (3) 1-1 Morten Fevang (43) Referee: Sergiy Shebek, Ukraine. - Odd Grenland went out in the most crulest of ways, by virtue of the away goals rule. Despite going behind early, the Norwegians equalized before the break, and had several good chances of taking the lead. But as has been usual in the last games, even the best of chances are missed, and progress in Europe is therefore impossible. A pity for Odd as HIF wasn't any better over the two legs.
